Anchor Tank’s success is based on a strong track record and excellent customer relations.

We’ve been delivering operational solutions since 1991. That’s when Hugh Waltho, Anchor Tank founder and owner, acquired a site at 42 - 44 Burke Street, Braybrook. Hugh’s initial focus was on the tallow industry to receive, process and package the product. In the early 1990s, tallow was either packed into drums and containerised for export - or stored in bulk and then shipped via tanker through the recently developed terminal at 40 - 44 Mackenzie Road, West Melbourne. Such was the success of this operation that between 1994 and 1998 it had grown to become the largest single exporter of drummed tallow out of Australia, with volumes of approximately 25,000 tonnes shipped each year.

Growing success

Since then, the development of the Mackenzie Road, West Melbourne site has undergone a complete refurbishment including construction of a new Control Centre. Storage has been extended with six new tanks significantly increasing Anchor Tank’s storage capacity to over 20763 cubic metres.

Focus on innovation and safety

As part of the upgrade, we installed a custom designed and built 500kg GEDA industrial elevator. This innovative system has created safer and more efficient access enabling us to fulfil our daily rooftop surveying obligations. And it has also provided greater scope for site expansion through enhanced access. It’s just one of the ways we’re meeting customer needs and ensuring we remain a market leader.
